Welcome

Though “Translating Human Rights” means something different to everyone, our class has worked to put together a series of posts that address many of the themes that come up when discussing human rights literature, and how human rights are translated. Our site addresses the connections and discrepancies between literature, human rights, and translation, specifically the issues that a translator would face when attempting to translate a narrative from specific local contexts into a more universal forum or language. We discuss a selection of works from the monthly online literary journal  Words Without Borders , as well as background readings that you can find on our Theoretical Readings page connected with our talks. Enjoy!
